Repeat Prescriptions
Patients on long-term medication can order repeat prescriptions in a number of ways:
- Online - follow the link at the top of this page to order your repeat prescription
- Telephone - daily between 10.00am and 12 noon ONLY via our dedicated prescription line
- In person - leave your written request or repeat slip in the box outside the surgery having clearly marked the items required. Please note we are not able to order prescriptions verbally at the reception desk.
Acute Prescriptions
Requests for medications which are not long-term repeats will be taken by the receptionist and passed to the GP. The receptionists are required by the GP to give them as much information as possible to enable them to prescribe appropriate and safe medication.
Please remember that you may not always get a prescription, as sometimes it is unnecessary, “you don’t need a pill for every ill”. You may be asked to speak to the doctor, make an appointment or be referred to the chemist regarding medication supply or advice on over the counter medication.
Nominated Pharmacy
We operate a nominated pharmacy system for collection of prescriptions. Please note that we require at least 48 hours notice for prescription requests. Once you have signed up to a pharmacy they will collect your prescription from the surgery. If you have not already set up a nominated pharmacy please let the reception staff know and this can be added to your records.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, practice nurse or pharmacist at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Please allow 48 hours for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
