circled_dayGP Appointments

All appointments with GPs are being carried out with initial telephone assessment. GP call backs are available to book each day from 8:30am. Routine and urgent appointments are available on a first come first serve basis. Once fully booked you will be asked to phone back the following working day. In line with collective action once the GP's have reached full capacity they will not be able to take any further appointments on that day. In the event that you have a medical problem which cannot wait until the next working day you will be directed to Phone First or A&E.

Please note that we cannot request a specific GP for triage calls. Your name will be added to a list and any GP on duty could return your call.

When booking the reception team will ask you a little about your symptoms. Staff are trained to ask certain questions in order to ensure that you receive the appropriate medical care.  Please don't be offended, this is known as care navigation and helps the patient get to the service they will benefit most from.  We appreciate your co-operation with this system.

Face-to-face consultations and home visits will then be arranged as necessary following the telephone assessment.

If you are over the age of 75 or you have not had an appointment with the doctor for three years you may request a health check with a practice nurse or GP

Practice Nurse Appointments

The practice nurses run a number of different clinics. Appointments are available to book up to 4 weeks in advance. We kindly ask that you contact the surgery after 11am to book nurse appointments as this will help to free up the phonelines first thing for GP bookings.

Practice nurse appointments are available Monday - Friday in Newry and Mondays & Thursdays in Camlough.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.  The Practice has a Did Not Attend policy, which may result in patients being removed from the surgery list.
